Melbourne Inclusive Church
Melbourne Inclusive Church (MIC) is a contemporary, Christ-centred, Spirit-filled, Christian Church dedicated to sharing the inclusive love of Jesus Christ.
We boldly and proudly proclaim Christ’s equal love for all people regardless of their ability, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, gender, race, ethnicity, or culture.
Our Vision
A world where people know and express the all inclusive love of God demonstrated through the life of Jesus Christ.
Our Mission
To create a community where people feel safe to connect with God and others. To continually offer biblical truth and teaching about faith and sexuality and offer life applicable teaching and tools. To encourage authentic worship of God and fellowship with one another.
Our Values
Inclusion
We believe God made you who you are and has a great plan for you. Being LGBTIQA+ or heterosexual is part of that plan.
Living with Purpose
We are about helping you realise your God-given dreams. The passion placed in your very DNA is God’s calling on your life.
Bridge Building
We are an inclusive, bridge-building church. We are active in the LGBTIQA+ affirming spaces and we take our rightful place in the Christian and wider community.
Our Beliefs
Creation
We believe in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Supporting scripture: Genesis 1:1
God
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God our Parent-Creator, Jesus Christ the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Supporting scripture: Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with God the Creator. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered up his life as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days conquering sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with God the Creator and the Son of God. Holy Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation, providing Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As Christians we seek to live under the control of the Spirit daily.

Eternity
We believe humanity was created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God (hell) by sin or in union with God (Heaven) through forgiveness and salvation.
Supporting scripture: John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46
Salvation
We believe Salvation is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sinful nature by trying harder or good works, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The only way to be saved from sin’s penalty is by trusting in Jesus Christ and receiving forgiveness of our sins. Eternal “life” begins at the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.
Supporting scripture: Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Romans 3:23; John 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1
Baptism
We believe Baptism symbolises the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is our public declaration that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Saviour. Baptism does not save us, but rather shows the world that we have already been saved. While baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates our love and obedience to Christ.
Supporting scripture: Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41; Matthew 28:19-20
Humankind
We believe Humankind is made in the spiritual image of God. We are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although we have potential for good, we carry an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin” which separates us from God. We do not believe that being same-sex attracted or gender diverse is a sin but rather a further expression of the diversity of our God.
Supporting scripture: Genesis 1:27 Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2
The Bible
We believe The Bible is God’s word to all people. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without mixture of error when interpreted correctly.
Supporting scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Psalm 119:105, 160; 12:6; Proverbs 30:5
Communion
We believe Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolise the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation; rather it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross.
