March 31 marks the International Transgender Day of Visibility (also called TDOV, Transgender Day of Visibility). For those not aware this is an annual event dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society. Today as always we stand with our Transgender siblings and say….we see you…we love you… and you are a beautiful part of the tapestry that makes up this world.
Melbourne Inclusive Church welcomes Michelle Sheppard to share about her life journey and the work she is doing as a Transgender woman.
Michelle Sheppard, “Mama Mish”, is a highly respected presenter, advocate, and trainer in the gender equity space and is currently in the Inclusion & Social Procurement for LXRP/DoT. As a transgender woman, she appreciates the difficulties within the grey created by the gender divide and not only traverses them herself, she willingly takes others on the ride with her. Some of her high-profile media engagements include JOY 94.9, AFL, ANZ, BMW, and Channel 9. She embodies dignity, grace and the change that is needed to make a positive difference in others’ lives, she empowers women and challenges barriers to inclusion, discrimination, and harassment.
